| 1838 | Captain Elliott of H.M.S. Fly on behalf of the British Cown, took formal possession of Pitcairn Island. |
| 1853 | The Pitcairn Islanders requested the British Government to move them to Norfolk Island. |
| 1856 | The Pitcairn Islanders embarked on the "Morayshire" on 3 May they landed on Norfolk Island on 8 June. |
